Getting an idea from the muse can be easy, but how do we pursue it and make it into a finished work?

I am undoubtedly the poorest (in material terms) that I've ever been but my soul is happy.

When I look back at my life and see how it has changed in the last ten years, I, for one, can see the power in poetry (and the enormous power that is released when someone follows their dreams).

Most poets today write free verse which is open to pattern and is recognized as nonconforming and rhyme less verse. Metrical verse relies on stanza length combined with meter or rhyme patterns distinct to itself.
