I used to think that writing an article was not only difficult but also definitely a chore.

As seems to be the case in so much of life, the hardest thing to do is to take that first step.

Facing writing articles, particularly when you have been told that you will have to write one frequently and regularly, can truly make taking tht first step daunting.

If you are a person who struggles with decision making but when you finally make one you are unshakeable, then you are the right person to write articles.

You must go through many thought processes to finally arrive at the firm decision that you are going to write articles and be successful at it. There are always many reasons you can find to discourage you from writing.

Some frequent stumbling blocks include feeling that everyone else can do it better, thinking that writing really ought to be done only by the professionals, wondering if there is anything you could write about that would be of interest to anyone else and on and on.

It is easy to let any of the above or others that crop up stand in your way of writing that first word.

My suggestion is to examine all the positives of articles writing such as fun, profit, story telling, giving advice, reviewing something or another that you want to tell the wrold about, questioning accepted customs and traditions and a zillion other things from your experience either real or imagined.

Once you have made a positive decision and know that you will be able to come up with several wonderful ideas, just pick up a pen or a computer and write that first word. It is the first word that is truly the most difficult.

After you have written
the first word you will be hooked and find ways to write articles that you never knew you had in you. You will also be able to strut around with great pride because of your accomplishment.

It is fascinating how writing can not only become a habit but also can become addictive as well.

Once you get in the swing of things you will find that sitting at your computer, piece of paper or whatever you are creating on/with, you will start writing and examining things that you had never thought of before.

One of the magic things of writing is that you don't have to rely on your memory. I know that I have often been traveling either driving or in a plane and had a gem of a thought that I would like to develop, but with no obvious or immediate way to write it down and expand on it, I would forget it and let it disappear into the ether.

Now that I am in the habit of writing articles, I can just let any ole thought flow onto the paper or the computer and eventually get around to developing it into an article which I hope will give pleasure and information to others.

When writing articles it is not necessary to go from the first word to the last at a sitting. I find that I often have three or more articles in the formative stage. I have started with an idea and when running dry, left it and come back later or another day and when reading it again I often get the spirit and continue writing until I have another finished 'masterpiece'.

So, my advice and encouragement to you is to have your own secret and private world and just write and write and enjoy letting things spew out of that cluttered brain and challenge you to make sense of it. I am sure you will and enjoy it on the way.

If you write articles for fun, profit and because you feel you have something to say, watch out world because you are on your way!
